Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper preview
Top seed Carlos Alcaraz will continue his stellar run at the 2023 BNP Paribas Open against Jack Draper on Tuesday (March 14) for a place in the quarterfinals.
The World No. 2 has lost just once in 11 matches this year – in the final of the Rio Open last month. Having made a belated start to the season after missing the Australian Open due to injury, Alcaraz romped to the title at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires.
He was poised to make it two wins in two during the Golden Swing, leading Cameron Norrie by a set and a break in the final of the Rio Open. However, an inopportune injury severely impeded his movement, allowing Norrie to storm back into the contest.
Having skipped the following week’s Acapulco 500 tournament, Alcaraz has made a triumphant return to action at the first ATP Masters 1000 event of the year. The Spanish teenager has seen off Thanasi Kokkinakis and Tallon Griekspoor in straight sets to improve to 10-1 in 2023.
Meanwhile, the 56th-ranked Draper improved to an impressive 7-3 on the season by seeing off compatriot Andy Murray in the third round. Earlier, he had taken out Leandro Riedi and 24th seed Daniel Evans to set up a showdown with the top seed.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper head-to-head
Alcaraz took his lone meeting against Draper in the Round of 32 at Basel last year and leads the head-to-head 1-0.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper prediction
On paper, this matchup looks like a mismatch. While Alcaraz is widely regarded as one of the best young players in the sport, Draper hasn’t come close to matching the Spaniard’s exploits yet.
Alcaraz has potent weapons – especially on hardcourt – with his consistency in shot making, elite athleticism, and strong serving, making him a force to be reckoned with. Draper, though, will quietly fancy his chances after toppling a Grand Slam champion in the previous round.
However, Alcaraz should win this one.
Prediction: Alcaraz in straight sets
